Obtaining a South African Express Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) typically involves several steps. This certificate is often required for various purposes, including employment, visa applications, or immigration processes. Here’s a general outline of the procedure:
Understand the Requirements: Before you start, make sure you know what you need for your police clearance.
Gather Necessary Documents: You will need these documents:
– A completed application form which you can download by clicking here
– The SAPS 91a form, which you can download by clicking here
– A certified or non-certified valid South African ID, passport, or asylum documentation if you are a refugee
Complete the Application Form: Fill out the application form accurately with all the required information. Check for any mistakes to avoid delays.
If you are living outside South Africa, you do not need to provide a South African address or phone number. Instead, use your current address and contact details in your country.
Fingerprints: Go to a police station or an authorized agency to have your fingerprints taken. Make sure the official knows these fingerprints are for a police clearance.
If you are in South Africa, Canada, the UK, New Zealand, or Australia, visit your nearest police station for help with fingerprinting. Be aware that some countries may require you to make an appointment.
If you live outside these countries and can’t find a place for fingerprinting, you can do it yourself. Get a Trodat 9095 Fingerprint Pad click here to see an example . In many Asian and European countries, as well as in North and South America, it’s best to go to a certified notary office or a South African consulate or embassy for this service.
Submit Your Application: Once you have all your documents, email them to [email protected]
We have updated our submission process. From now on, you do not need to send physical copies of your fingerprint forms. Only PDF copies of your fingerprints will be accepted.
Payment: Pay the fee for the clearance certificate and email the proof of payment to [email protected]
Processing Time: After you submit your application, it usually takes 3 to 7 working days for an Express service. This speeds up the process so you can get your clearance certificate faster.
After your application is processed, you’ll be notified when your Police Clearance Certificate is ready. You will receive a digital copy, and you need to provide your courier details so we can send the physical certificate to you.
Note:
Should you not utilize your police clearance certificate in Canada, the UK, New Zealand, or Australia, an Apostille certificate or a certificate of authentication may be required. Additionally, ensure that it is accompanied by a sworn translation from a South Africa Registered Court Translator. Prior to submission, consult with the relevant embassy or immigration authority to confirm compliance with their specific requirements regarding the police clearance documentation.
